"Sometimes while I'm talking to God, He'll show me something about myself in such a way that I have to laugh at my own humanity and how funny I must look to Him." - Donna

Donna...just found your blog...I absolutely love it! And I love your singing! I'm at work right now and it was just exactly what I needed to hear to help me make it through tonight! Thanks for your ministry here!

We have a winner!

Congratulations to Eveline Maedel! If you'll email me with your snail mail address, I'll get your copy in the mail. I know you'll enjoy it.

Thanks to everyone who participated, and keep watching. I'll post details of a new contest soon! - Donna

I have one copy, courtesy of Glass Road Public Relations, of Tamara Leigh’s new release, Stealing Adda, to give away. I'll collect names now through Tuesday, April 25th. If you are interested, post a comment under this post telling me what your thoughts are on Christian Romance novels. Do you read or write in this genre? How about 'Chicklit'? You might even list a couple of your favorites for those not familiar with the genre.

On April 25th, I'll put all the names in a basket, and draw one person's name! If Christian Romance isn't your cup of tea, keep stopping by. More surprises in store!

I read this book Donna and it's simply fabulous!

I stopped reading romance novels years ago because of the filfth in them. I had no idea Christian romance novels could be clean and romantic!

I think it is challenging for Christian authors to write a good novel, romance or otherwise, without being "too preachy" or overdoing it. The characters faith needs to be essential to the story line and development.

One author who does a good job of this, I think, is Liz Curtis-Higgs - her Scottish romance series that started with "Fair is the Rose" are excellently written.

For "chick-lit", I enjoy Mindy Starns-Clark - the Tulip series is entertaining. I think I just like characters that are real and quirky! "Stealing Adda" looks like something I'd enjoy reading.

Great contest idea, Donna - good luck with it!

Thanks for the recommendation, Dabbling Mum! I should have mentioned that I enjoyed the book as well. I don't get to read a lot of fiction, but I thought "Stealing Adda" was very funny. It's not overly preachy, yet Tamara stresses Christian values and gives the viewpoint of someone seeking the truth found only by seeking God.

Eveline, thanks for giving us some authors to try out!

There is a definite place for Christian Romance. I think many--especially young people--have no idea what pure, proper romance is, nor do they fully realize what the alternatives are to the secular TV version.

I started reading Christian Romance Novels about three years ago and I love them. I had been turned off to romance novels years ago because of the sexual descriptions. I am interested in people's feelings and relationships not their sex life which should be private and intimate. Christian Romance Novels are great. I love reading about people who have the same values I do.

Even though I write online Christian romance stories, I only started reading Inspirational Fiction a few months ago. So far, Andrea Boeshaar's Promise Me Forever has been my favorite. I'm also starting to read Janette Oke, and I just love how gracefully she tells her stories! As a writer who one day hopes to be published, I pray that my love stories would help encourage people in their Christian walk, and by depicting Christians living their faith, that it would even be a testimony to the unsaved. At least, that's what I'm working toward!

Well, I need to stretch my genre horizons, so throw my name in the hat:-) This book sounds good.

Dear Donna - I do enjoy Christian Romance. In fact, I am writing a "cozy mystery"--a Christian, clean, non-violent murder mystery, with a central romance. So put me down!

Love, Joy and Peace,

I love Christian Romance novels! They're my favorite way to escape and take a break from life. I started reading Christian Romance when I was 13 (I'm now 24). It started with great books from Janette Oake. Then as I grew older, I began reading Lori Wick. I love her novels! Well write, turns out the way the reader hopes, great lessons in faith, and just fun reading! I've read other romance novels such as the ones from Steeple Hill, but even though they claim to be Christian, they just seem to be missing the depth and spiritual walk that Wick and Oake's books have. Christian romance is a great genre, but it's hard to find well written stories. I'm thankful I found my two favorites. I'm sure there's lots more out there! I'm going to scroll through the other posts for ideas :)

I heard from a guy - a police officer, no less, who read the book and liked it very much! Even he was surprised. So guys, don't be shy! Even if you don't want to read it, you can enter for a woman in your life. :)

Thanks for all the recommendations and feedback!

Hi Donna, I think there is a place for Christian fiction or romance. People are turning away from smut and looking for good reading that isn't preachy but not filth. That's what I tried to do with my novel "Bitter Water." My neighbor tells me I write like Debbie McCromber. i had to buy one of her books because I had never heard of her.
