"Sometimes while I'm talking to God, He'll show me something about myself in such a way that I have to laugh at my own humanity and how funny I must look to Him." - Donna

Donna...just found your blog...I absolutely love it! And I love your singing! I'm at work right now and it was just exactly what I needed to hear to help me make it through tonight! Thanks for your ministry here!

Just for fun...

If you'd like to read something with a touch of humor, click here to read a piece on Penwomanship called "Thanksgiving - a Day in the Life of 'The Cook'" by yours truly. Something different that might cause you to chuckle. Thanks!

This is really cute, Donna! I, too, am the wild-eyed cook, and I enjoy preparing a big meal for wonderful family--some of whom I see only once or twice a year, due to distance. Do you have any tips or recipes that allow a body to do most of the preparation in advance, so that there's more time before dinner to enjoy the company? Or what about clean-up...have you mastered a method that is fast and efficient?
Suggestions welcome.... :)

Donna, I got a chuckle out of that Thanksgiving piece. I've also been
enjoying your devotionals. You do great work!

Thanks, Becca, Ellen, and Janet for reading! Glad you enjoyed it. I've gotten a few emails, too!

As for making things a bit easier? I go to my sister-in-law, Shirley's, house when I can! *g*

When I'm cooking, the first thing I do is run a sink full of hot, sudsy water, and clean up as I go. Otherwise, do I have a mess! The other thing is - I don't cook for big crowds very often, and don't have Thanksgiving at my house every year, so I have to keep washing out that big mixing bowl. lol! I also make as much as I can ahead of time.

As for cleanup after the meal - we all chip in and get the mess cleaned up fairly quickly. That is - until the sweet tooth starts acting up and we all have to have another piece of pie. After all - it's Thanksgiving! Calories don't count on that day! :)

Hey, you never cease to amaze me!!! I did not think you were a cook! You are always saying that you guys eat out all the time so I thought you would be a "carrier!" That was a cute one, I enjoyed that!

Thanks, Sally and Jan! Sally, I like to cook, but not every day, or even very often. *g*
